Second day

Second day in Bintan....

We didn't do much today...simply lazing around after a truly hearty breakfast.Furthermore, the clouds had gathered up above and we had to run back for shelter when the sky poured raindrops on us.There we were in our swimming gear, heading for the beach when it rained.

We didn't want to spend our next few hours cooped up in our room so we managed to get a resort staff to send us to the other block on the buggy. We spent the next half an hour or so in a kid's playroom, wishing the rain would stop.

Alhamdullilah,we saw the final raindrops, then headed cheerfully to the beach.

Running through the sandy beach....

Splashing in the cool water....

The little one was anxious to fall asleep after the 'swim'.

So while we packed our bag,he snuggled cosily in the kingsize bed.

Although it was a short getaway (since it's not easy for hubby to get many days off from his busy schedule at work),we truly had tons of fun and good memories. This trip made me realize though it's fun to go on trips with only your partner (like we had during our honeymoon,pre-baby days),it's even MORE fun to have your baby along with you.... : )

Fun in the sun

After having egg mayo sandwiches for breakfast,we headed out to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. We checked in our luggage and since we had some time in our hands before boarding the ferry,we couldn't resist a second breakfast at Killiney's.

It was soon time to get on the ferry...yay,it was our little prince's first ferry ride! Before that,we caught him making a phone call to his errr.....grand-dad perhaps...?hehe...

And then off we go!We chose seats near the window so the little one would be able to see the splashing water and ships outside. He lost interest in it after a while and decided to move around (of course). He definitely couldn't keep still during the hour ride.I was getting bored too (guess we know who's character he has, huh?) and looked upon hubby to amuse me.

Eventually, after a 55 minutes ferry ride and a 15 minutes bus ride, our eyes set upon the beautiful Bintan Lagoon Resort! With welcome drinks to freshen us up and quench our thirst,my little one and I roamed around the lobby while hubby checked us into our seaview room.

With his bag of sandcastle-making tools!

The weather was fantastic and the view was gorgeous.

We were excited to get into the waters and soak in the sunshine...but how could we when our tummies were rumbling?Guess the two sets of breakfast we had didn't help much...hah!We went in search of the resort's restaurant and came upon 'Kopi O'.The buffet spread was not bad,but the price kind of puts us off.Lunch costed us nearly $80.

When our prince woke up from his much-anticipated nap,we trotted to the beach. With soft sand in our feet and the wind caressing our face,we could't help but fall in love....The view was spectacular. The vast sands, blue waters and sunrays dancing together. It even seemed like we could touch the beautiful horizon.

There were no one around except for a few staff from a nearby beach restaurant. We were like on an island all by ourselves! The waves were lapping and calling to us....so splash!

We were surprised to see that our little one was no longer afraid of the sea.In fact,he was going deeper and further from us,giggling every once in a while when the waves hit him.

We cheered him to build sandcastles with us....

But he didn't seem to be engaged in it for long.Rather,he took fists of sand from the beach and threw it in the water...and vice versa! So there he was, going back and forth while hubby and I tried our hands in building those castles.Eventually,we burst into laughter, admiring what we've built and agreed that we were both lousy at it!

Later,we ventured to the kids' pool which was situated on the other side of the resort. It was far from the main pool.We passed by two boiler rooms and hiked a bit before we heard the tiniest sound of a waterfall.Truly, there was a mini 'waterfall' at the kids' pool. And again, there was no one around. We plonked the little one on his float but he struggled out of it.Apparently, our 'grown-up' boy didn't want to use his float anymore (after I huffed and puffed into his float till I turned blue!).

We took the slides and let him ventured on his own though we always had our eyes on him. When the sun began to bow low,we went back to our room, showered and got ready for dinner at Nelayan's-a restaurant by the beach.

Dinner was scrumptious.Hubby chose steak as the maincourse for us while the rest of the servings of salad, soup and dessert were free-flow.Hubby declared this steak was the best he ever had.Thick, moist and tender with the black pepper sauce enveloping its meat.

Dinner was good....but the price was exorbitant (especially since everything was in Singapore dollars instead of Rupiah).I guess this is the price we have to pay staying in a five star resort.Notwithstanding, the service was excellent...the staff were attentive and concerned,we even had hot towels after our meal!

With our heavy tummies, smiling faces and heavy eyelids, accompanied by millions of twinkling stars above,we slowly hiked back up to our room.

Sun,sand and sea

Yippee!!!Can't wait for tomorrow.Yup,we are going away again. To celebrate our anniversary! : )

Our bag's almost packed...we'd better have an early night.

Sun,sand and sea...here we come!

You and Me

Once upon a time, there was a girl who minded her own business....till her friend came along. Her friend desperately wanted to matchmake the girl with this boy (whose a friend of a friend) as she was curious to discover her magical matchmaking skills. The girl was adamant in saying no....she thought little,if not, nothing of it.To go on a blind date was utterly embarrassing and scary. But her friend was not willing to take no for an answer and coaxed her to meet this boy just once. With a futile sigh, she nodded.

That girl was me.

Though I nearly cancelled on the date at last minute,I braved myself up and waited for that boy to arrive. He might be funny-looking or weird...or a sex-maniac.....or worse, boring!I laughed timidly as I thought of it.How do I manage an hour or two of dinner with a person like that?!

As it turned out,the boy is cute,in a manly sort of way,has a wicked sense of humour, kind, chivalrous and makes me feel at ease.

That one date turned to many, many dates....

Three weeks later,he popped the question.

I seriously thought that he had gone mental and told him so.But as mental as he was,I was crazy for him too.For all the beauty of his heart that I adore,I could not put a finger to why I agreed to marry him.My gut simply says he's the one and my heart knows for sure it's true.

Though friends and family were utterly surprised (and curious!) by my announcement, they were all delighted.

Two months later,we got engaged.

Eight months later,on a beautiful morning at Orchid Country Club, flanked by loving family and friends,we were pronounced as husband and wife.

That was three years ago....

And tomorrow is going to be our wedding anniversary.

For all the things that I want to say, dear,I don't think there are enough words to express how much you meant to me.

Perhaps for now, just these three words....I love you.

The Day I Met You

When I met you I found out what true love was,
Still today it amazes me what it really does,
I've always been in love with you even when we were apart,
From the moment I saw you I knew you'd always have my heart.

I knew with all that I am,one day I'd be your wife,
And when that day came I had a meaning to my life,
We've been through ups and downs these past three years,
Our love keeps growing stronger and stronger that's pretty clear,
Thank you my husband for loving me and sticking by my side,
When I think of you,my husband,I am filled with so much pride.

Alhamdullilah for a great life

How do some people feel honoured and happier when they get older? They boast about being more experienced and matured (and forgetful perhaps?hah!) each time their calender year flips.I'm quite certain they are just deceiving (and consoling) themselves!

Which was why I feel that I am one of the normal and realistic people when sadness and utter shock seeped through me as I welcomed my birthday a few days back.I've got to get myself a grip....and breathe....as realization slaps me in the face.

Yes,a year has gone by since my last birthday.

After checking myself out in the mirror for any signs of wrinkles (they are all gorgeous laughter lines I'm sure!),I pondered a bit on my life.I remembered how when I was 19,I told myself that I'd keep track on a milestone every year,so I can look back and say, hey,THAT happened when I was 21 or 25.....

So this is what I got from my memory bank....
20 : Obtained my A'levels cert
21 : Came to be a court interpreter
22 : Trip to Gold Coast
23 : Travel to the States
24 : Trip to Turkey
25 : Trip to Melbourne
26 : Met my sweetheart
27 : Married him! : )
28 : Became a mum! : )
29 : Started my journey as a full-time mum

My milestone for this year, you may ask?

Hubby and I are working hard on it....*wink*

Meantime,I had a huge (pun intended!) surprise for my birthday!

Oooohhhhh......

Aaahhhhh....

*bling...bling....*It was breathtakingly gorgeous!!!

I lurveeeeeeeeee it!!! I can't believe hubby bought this for me.Thanks sweetheart.Je vous aime très beaucoup!

We had an absolute fun time....

Sipping latte...and taking in the delights of a yummy durian mousse and puffs at Goodwood Park Hotel.....

"I want those!"

"I'll just get them myself!"

I also received some moolah for loving mum, great gifts from babelicious Siti and Sis...and tons of well-wishes from family and friends.Thank you all, without you,my life would be far different.

Alhamdullilah for my good health, rezki, blessings, love and happiness that surround me : )

My big boy

My darling baby turns 18 months today (and he's sprouting yet another tooth!yay!).

Wow,how time flies...It makes me pause a while and reminisce how my life has changed since I found out I was pregnant...It makes me tear whenever I think back on the time I saw the stick and it showed me 'positive'.I cried so hard.Tears of joy...that no other moment is able to contend with.

Now here I am,with my beautiful baby. Each and everyday,I would never want to miss any moment that I can be with him.Sometimes I just smile thinking how silly I am to be kissing him a thousand times over in a day...and still I can't get enough! How I love the sweet smell of his skin....How I love to twirl my finger around his curly hair...How I love hearing his laughter...I am always, always thankful for the gift that Allah has bestowed upon me.

Newbie in the house

This was long overdue.....After making several calls to 'threaten' them (nahh...I was verrrry nice to them actually....ya,right!),they finally delivered it!

Our sleek storage bench in a deep walnut shade.

I love this concept as it blends with our current furniture and makes a great 'relek-one-corner' seat.Hehe....This was specifically to store you-know-who's endless toys.No more using the $2 nylon basket (which tore within 2 days of purchasing it) to stuff everything in.

Digging out his toy.

Better still, climb into the storage bench to be with his toys!*roll eyes*

As a self-professed neat freak,I truly love this (thanks for getting this, dear!).Just chuck the items inside. So no more excuses to have all your toys scattered around the house, little one!You know the drill!

Siti's Birthday

Happy birthday Siti!!!

Sorry this post was up a tad late :-p
Hope you had a fantastic birthday and tons of even greater presents..ooooh.....and we hope what we got you,are to your liking (otherwise sell them on Ebay!lol).
Here's specially for you.....

Happy birthday, you’re not getting old,
Stay in the game, it’s not time to fold.
Wrinkles and grey hair are just a new look,
Countless experiences, you should write in a book.

A birthday is seldom a serious occasion,
Try not to take it, like the d-day invasion.
Laughter and jokes are within sight,
Stock up on both, all through the nights.

No one touches the luggage!

"I'm going on a holiday!"

Nahhh.....that was just my darling baby with his luggage bag.Not entirely his, though he hollered at anyone who dared touch it.So our trip down to T3 saw the little one running through the vast terminal, with his luggage bag chasing after him,of course!Onlookers were tickled by his antics....and he was going in his own direction most of the times (ignoring our pleas to follow our tracks),perhaps to his imaginary little tots terminal : )

After we managed to distract him away from his beloved bag,we tucked in to a sumptuous meal...

All that chasing after him sure made me crave for a yummy banana-split!
