Hooked on soup!

As I'm always looking for new places and restaurants to venture to,I was excited to try out this 9 mth-old 'makan place' which is somewhat a stone's throw away from my crib.I thought it's just a stall at a 'kopitiam',like Charco's, but it turned out to be a proper 'restaurant' like that of Mad' Jack's-with air-con!What a sweet relief coz the sun was burning that weekend!

J's Wok & Grill

Review?

First impression was good.Place is clean and tidy, minimal deco with a modern touch. Attentiveness from the service people was excellent.I love the chic, white four sided dishes they use to serve.

The wait for the food was quite long although there was no lunch time crowd (we were there late,at 2.30 or so). When the drinks arrived,we slurped on the icy cold cheng teng!Yumm! It was magnificent since the weather was super hot and this really quenches your thirst. My son couldn't stop having it! *roll eyes* The teh tarik was bleghhh...I have stopped short on the search for delicious teh tarik since we met our 'mama senyum'-no one can beat his teh tarik lahh! Then the soup arrived...piping hot!A scoop of this and I'm hooked! And so were hubby and son...and darling daughter too!Since all of us are feeling under the weather, having this was good.Hubby and I both agreed this was the best soup ever. And dipping that bread into it,ohhh la la.....There were chunks of,I believe, chicken meat-something totally different in mushroom soup!

The two main dishes that we ordered were nothing to die for.Hubby said the chili dog tasted plain.I managed to scoop up some of the meat sauce on top and that tasted ok so if one likes pasta with bolognaise, maybe that'd be nice.Coleslaw and fries are done well.My Classic Combo (it's a portion for 2 persons and I'm sharing ok!Combination of fish, beef and chicken) was not nice. The fish tasted funny while the beef was still too raw for us.The sauce was bad too : (

Damage done : $40.70 for 5 items.

Maybe next time,I'll give the fish and chips a try.And the soup, DEFINITELY the soup.I'm keen and so curious to try the carrot and pumpkin soup that the supposed Sharifah Aini likes : p

Alif Ba Ta

Here's a clip of my baby boy reiterating/memorising flashcards. We do this everyday (or at least, try to!).We have hundreds of flashcards, mostly are 'homemade'.It's an effective way to train a young mind and get them learning various words/phrases,etc,esp in building up their vocabulary, in a short span of time.Of course, there are methods of flashing the cards, what to flash, how many cards per day,etc....and it takes a lot of effort, but it's worth it!I'm doing this with his sister now too and so anxious to see the output in the future,Insya Allah.

We're getting him to memorize and recite Al-Fatihah now....and so far,it's been wonderful.He's nearly halfway there,alhamdulillah : )

An unexpected visitor pounced on my husband!

And so,it's already mid of Syawal.Soooo many things have happened since my last entry. But first and foremost, alhamdullilah,I get to fast the entire month of Ramadhan!Yay!A tad weird since I'm a woman, right, but please,I beg of you, don't think that I manage to do that because I'm pregnant ok....coz I've received a few wide-eyed,big grins and excited exclaimations when family members heard this.Sheesh....I'm not lahh....*roll eyes* It's because I'm breastfeeding.....not that I'm having another one.

Anyhow....I had a huge surprise this Raya.An unpleasant one...An unexpected visitor pounced on my husband!!Boo hoo.....Believe it or not,it happened on the 1st of Syawal itself. We were all not sure at first...till when we were at mum's place, and when I saw it,we were pretty sure it's the one!Doc later confirmed it.Yup,my hubby was hit by chicken pox!Mood was a bit dampened of course, especially when we were so excited to go 'jalan raya' with the kids....but we took it with a stride.Cubaan...hehe.....So there we were,no one can come to our home, and us to theirs (hubby's not the only one quarantined!). We did have a few daredevils at our home-sisters and bros, and their kids.

Darling son, hugging a bottle of kuih-with his uncles.

So we had about 10 days of Raya at home...sob....There I was eating my own kuih!hahaha! At the extent I was going,I'd better not pile on kilos. We decided not to let the chicken pox man touched the kids so I was all hands and legs with them...phew!Poor hubby was so sad he couldn't get near them, couldn't kiss or hug or touch them.Days were spent slapping on calamine lotion on him and getting him to rest and sleep apart from worrying if my kids would catch it or not. When eventually the doc said the infectious stage was over,we were so relieved. To be on the cautious side,we waited for a few more days.At last, the kids were cuddling up with their daddy with the latter having a huge grin plastered on his face.

Our 'jalan raya' just started a few days ago, meeting our aunts and uncles from both sides and friends too.Darling son had the best time, especially when he got the chance to play with his cousins and friends. My princess is still too young to appreciate other kids' company. Most times she just wants to be in her crib and sleep,I'm sure.

Here are some random pics...More in my Multiply!

The lil' princess

Big eyes,big ribbon : p
