My husband married an obsessive woman!

I didn't actually realized there was a term for it.

Until I recently read an article about OCPD-obsessive-compulsive personality disorder.Urgh....sounds creepy.

OCD is defined as an anxiety mental disorder that centres on repetitive, fearful thoughts, termed as an obsession.

Well,I'm an 'orderer' apparently. My obsession is to organise or arrange objects in a specific pattern or order before performing a daily task.My compulsion is to arrange things in a certain 'correct' way. Thus,if anyone else touches or moves those objects out of place,I would feel extremely upset or annoyed.

Which,I tell you, is soooooo true!

I can't help it.I have this excessive desire for orderliness.I want certain things to be where they are.I want items that have been taken to be placed back EXACTLY as it was before. For instance, when hubby took the diaper rash cream to put on our son and then he placed it back on the vanity table, but not exactly at the spot where it was supposed to be,I'd get agitated.I mean,I have placed our bottles of perfume, lotions and creams etc, neatly and in such an organized way (perfumes on the left, lotions in the middle, deodorant and powder at the back....and so on...),I just get a tad upset when they are not placed back neatly. It's with everything, you know.I don't like seeing a crooked bathmat on the floor, slanted cushions on the sofa, furniture not in line...I try not to get too consumed or annoyed when I noticed this kind of thing coz I don't want the person who didn't do it 'right' to be annoyed by my behaviour.I'm mental!Haha!

Just a few months back,SIL and hubby insisted that SIL stayed with us for a few days after I gave birth to my second. As lovely and as helpful as she is,I couldn't help but wanting to do certain things my way or to put certain items as such.I tried so hard to ignore and not be so regimental but when no one was looking,I rearrange it back as it was supposed to be.Opps....

Sounds crazy but it's true. That's me.Yup,I'm an obesessive orderer.I just respect orderliness and cleanliness, that's all. This reminds me of two characters I watched on TV before. One is the husband of Julia Roberts in the movie 'Sleeping with the enemy' who wanted even the towels on the rack to be arranged in line. The other is Monica, played by Courteney Cox,in the sitcom 'Friends'.Those who are fans of this would understand!

As obssessive as I am,hubby still loves me : p I have our home nice and neat, haven't I?hehe....

Speaking of which,I can't wait for hubby to be back from Sydney tomorrow. He's been gone too long....I hope he's got my favourite chocolates back for me!*grin*

Anyway,I had a good time shopping with my two babies yesterday.I had wanted to go to the new mall in the east since it was opened but didn't get the chance, especially when hubby dreaded to wait for a parking lot during the crowded weekends.First stop was to Uniqlo, the most talked-about new store these days.I wanted to know what the hype is about since I've never been to one,in Japan, that is.All in all,it's an ok store. Not so much for me I guess. It houses the basics, with lots of tees, camisoles and tank tops for women.I was looking forward to check out the bratop but most are plain, sleeveless tanktops, unlike the ones from Victoria Secrets (I wish we have VS store here,I went wild at one in Las Vegas!),which have long sleeves ones and gorgeous design tops. There are tons of jeans in Uniqlo.I didn't get the chance to try any, what with the 2 kids. But I noticed some nice cuttings on some and a pair of sleek cargoes. The material in Uniqlo seems good though-kudos to that.I bought some innerwear which feels comfortable and makes me yearn to buy more : ) I just wish they carry more styles.

I came across another new first time in S'pore store and I love the designs they carry.I got a nice waistcoat and I can't wait for them to bring in more.I burnt a hole at the end of those few hours of shopping, with a few breaks to change my baby's diaper and to breastfeed.Such a challenge to shop with the lil' ones (with my son falling off his sister's pram,my daughter wailing for milk and me shouting,no don't touch that and put that back!),but it won't stop me!At the end of the day, there were gifts for the family.

It's always the case.....once I start,it's difficult to stop (maybe there's another term for this obsession too!yikes) so I ended up staying up till the early morn to shop online.Ohhh ohhh....

Maybe it's good that hubby's home tomorrow....so I won't digress in my shopping!

P.S.Check out this 2 stunning gizmos!A fiery red cybershot that allows editing on the camera itself....and Kindle2,for bookworms like me!Dunno if its downloads are available here or not.Any ebook will do then *wink*

A year gone by....

And so a year has gone by since I last blown the candles on my cake.

A year full of hopes and dreams.....and mostly of laughter and much pain (that was the part when I went into labour!lol).A big change in my life since last year is having another baby...a much awaited baby girl, who is coincidentally conceived on my last birthday...*grin*

As I closed my eyes and ponder on the significant parts of my life, what I was before, the things that happened which has moulded me to what I am today,I can only be thankful to Him.Though I can't erase some that I've regretted, perhaps in all the wrong that I've done,I might have done something good after all...to deserve this happiness and this smile I have on my face everyday.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't effected with the change in the number. And I still wouldn't tell anyone my age if I have to,chose to playfully said 'I'm 21' when anybody asks.Like, get real, right?!Think what you may,go ahead and guess...just don't go overboard if you want to get on my good side : )

I was mulling over the fact that hubby's going away for another business trip on my birthday and hoping that he has something nice up his sleeve for me before he flies off.I love when someone fusses over my birthday, planning and surprising me...yup,just for me!Haha!Am I being snotty?*shrugs* Trust me,all wives want that from their husbands.

And so,that was exactly what he did.

He took the kids and me for a fantastic meal on Sunday afternoon. We had a 'New Zealand menu'....fresh dory and succulent steak....and a kiwi cheesecake. It may look a queer green but I promise you,it's superb!

On Monday morning,at 11.12am,I received a message-He told me to get the kids to nap early as we have a date at 3.30.

I was so surprised! He has gone to work and I thought it was going to be another routine weekday for me.Apparently not!I rushed through the chores that needed immediate attention and waited anxiously to be swept to another food galore.

Hi-tea at Carousel.

The food was so-so.Not much improvement since our last visit. What I went wild for was of course, the desserts!I had a bit of rice,otak-otak,a taste of kebab and some other stuff here and there, but I swooped in on the sinful sweets....their signature bread and butter pudding,cheesecakes,scones,ice-cream and chocolate fondue. My son was in it as much as I was!

I ate till the lights go low on us.I was a happy woman.Just as I thought we were heading home, hubby asked if I was ready for the second surprise.Oh la la...

What was beside Carousel?Yup,DFS.But more importantly, where exactly at DFS were we headed?

Third floor...where all the boutiques are...where you can smell the leather on those gorgeous ones....

With a skip on my step and an enormous grin on my face (I couldn't wipe that stupid smile on my face throughout!),we went into

'The One'.

I could have kissed him right there!

This was my gift....

My own Galliera!!!Yippee!A GM to fit all my stash and babies' stuff too.

Not forgetting,a birthday card with words written so sweet,I had tears in my eyes.

Thank you sweetheart!Muaah...muaah...muaah....

On the morning of my birthday, hubby flew off to Hong Kong.Still dizzy with excitement,I went on a date with my two SIL for yet another sumptuous meal.Ooh all the good food....

My son has the best time it seems!(My baby girl stayed asleep all this while...)

I had a long birthday celebration this year.It was fantastic.I had tons of messages and well-wishes from my true friends and loads of love from my family.

What more could I have asked for....?

Fine dining

When hubby declared that he has to cut down on his rice/carbo intake,my mind began racing on what to cook each day.Apart from the usual pastas, steak and shabsuka,I'm not too sure what else I can cook up.So when I came upon this recipe recently,I decided to give it a shot.Something simple yet nice.

Salmon ready.....

Just some of the ingredients....

Cook up a storm....and voila! My teriyaki salmon steak!

It's simple, takes less than 30 minutes, including prep time....I love it,hubby loves it and even our junior can't get enough it.

It's tangy sauce goes great with the soft salmon.Healthy,lip-smacking treat.

It's fine dining....without the pinch in your pockets.hehe....

My Picasso

My two year old drew this....He said this is 'umi'!

And this is a drwing of him and me....

Isn't it cute?I've never been prouder! : )

Muaythai

I saw an ad in the papers today...that brought me back many fond memories.

It's about Muaythai.Yup,Thai boxing or kickboxing as some may call it.I immediately went to its website bnm.com.sg to check out what's happening...though I know I won't be signing up for it,as much as I yearn to!I'd probably break a bone or two or end up with cool blue bruises if I were to join now.hah! But yeah,I was into this once upon a time.It started when I signed up at Amore, got to know my trainer,Chris, who's fully trained in Thailand, coupled with his buddy and with a few friends,we decided to start a Muaythai class. We started small but the class soon got bigger and that was when the fun started. We booked certain places/rooms to hold our classes.Got around buying boxing gloves, hand wraps, ankle guards and other training equipment. We learnt the techniques of hook, cross, uppercut, roundhouse kick just to name a few.

It was not only fun....but breaking a sweat through muaythai, was a stress-reliever on top of getting a full body workout.I always look forward to it.

That seems like a lifetime ago.

Maybe some day I'd get to coax hubby into joining this with me (he's not really into tough,kick-ass chick, you see...don't know why he fell in love with me...I kept asking him that...lol).Or perhaps,I'd get to see the beauty of this again through my son's eyes....when he's older, when I enrol him to this muaythai class for kids.

I wonder what his daddy might think?

Knowing my calendar

It was bedtime...my lil' prince was still babbling away. It's hard for him to stop talking.lol!Suddenly,it occured to me that he was reiterating something that he watched everyday. He has memorized the topic "knowing my calendar" from his BabyBrainFlashCards DVD,which was played to him everyday since only 2 months ago.I didn't even know he has memorised it!

I truly recommend this DVD to all parents with young children. There are 2 levels of this DVD and can be found at major bookstores.

It's not only this that he is able to memorize so quickly....now and again,he would surprise us with what he has heard and seen : )

What is love...

Got this through an email from a friend....I hope some of what was said here will make you smile.I sure did : )

Touching words from the mouths of kids. What does 'Love' mean? A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds. The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined.

'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.'Rebecca - age 8

'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.'Billy - age 4

'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.'Karl - age 5

'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.'Chrissie - age 6

'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.'Terri - age 4

'Love is when my mummy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.'Danny - age 7

'Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more.My Mummy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss' Emily - age 8

'If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,'Nikka - age 6

'Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.'Noelle - age 7

'Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.'Tommy - age 6

'My mummy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.'Clare - age 6

'Love is when Mummy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.'Elaine - age 5

'Love is when Mummy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.'Chris - age 7

'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.'Lauren - age 4

'When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.' (what an image)Karen - age 7

'Love is when Mummy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross.'Mark - age 6

'You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.'Jessica - age 8

And the final one - Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbour, the little boy said,'Nothing, I just helped him cry'

Fun weekend

I was soooooooo looking forward to every weekend.Time to get my itchy butt out of the house and zoom in the car with hubby and kids. After doing a bit of 'research',I had a few places in mind that I wanted to go...places that we have yet to explore with our young ones.

So on Saturday,I coaxed hubby to check out some cool furniture for the children.I had requested for a catalogue and I fell in love with what they are selling the moment my eyes saw it.True enough,it looks great in real life as it does in the catalogue.Hubby likes it too (though not as much as I do!).Our little prince loved it as well we noticed. The only thing we are considering now is,of course, the price that comes with it....and also,is it truly worth paying for.I don't think we would be getting it so soon though (if we are,in the first place...*grin*) coz our son has not reached the stage whereby he could sleep on his own AND in his own room.Meantime, let me get the calculator and find out the costs, just in case.... ; )

Since another food outlet has recently received its 'halal' cert,we decided to go there for brunch!

Darling son,with his kid's meal.

Tucking in!

Sunday......

We had a whale of a time on Sunday.Fidgets-a cool place we have yet to explore...

We had heavy breakfast at Adam Road and then drove there, which was a stone's throw away. The bulding seems dilapidated but don't be fooled, once you stepped into Fidgets,it's like wow,my kids would DEFINITELY love this!A place to jump, climb, slide, roll and do all sorts! The child in me was jumping in excitement.I noticed my son's eyes lit when he saw the huge colourful place-the slides,walls,tubes.....

Indoor fun for kids.

Wall-climbing!

Canopy walk.

Balls! And lots of 'em!

Hubby and I took turns to accompany our boy.I guess when his sister is older,we could leave them both to play on their own while we sip our latte at the cafe ; )

We spent a few hours there until hubby decided it was time out.Exhausted but happy, all three of us (baby girl not included as she sleeps half of the time) were dying for a drink and lunch.I was so glad we managed to go there...I am more glad that my son had such an exciting time. We'll definitely be there again soon!

I've been searching for new spots to spend our weekends as a family so hopefully,we'll get to explore other places next time around. If you do have good ideas, drop me a line, will ya? : )

P.S. More photos in my Multiply!

If I can't go to the mall, bring the mall to me!

Itch...itch...itch....

My itch to shop has started again (not that it ever stopped anyway...*grin).It all started with a single purchase of course....like the river flowing to the sea,my spree didn't stop at one.

Been wanting to get this since I was pregnant.Even after I surveyed my other mummy pals for reviews on various brands,I ended up not buying it as I was sceptical if my second baby would embrace it coz my first didn't.After rambling so much about it,hubby told me to just get it (only then my rambling would stop,right?!hmmm...).

The package arrived today all the way from US....people not included : )

My baby girl's sling! There were so many yummy colours and designs to choose from, but I eventually couldn't help but get the sling in my favourite shade-RED!It's so easy to use, unlike the previous ones I had.Barely five minutes of placing her in the sling, she falls asleep.

She snuggled so comfortably,I was very happy. It's worth every dollar getting it.

It was the start of my online shopping...after a long break of not doing so,I'm back with a vengence.I got some white onesies and infant caps from another US website.I just 'need' to get non-pink items for my girl.A lot of her outfits are in pink (mostly were gifts) and I think I have to put a stop to it...haha.The problem is,as I've noticed, many places sell infant clothes only in two colours, either in blue for boys or pink for girls. What I need now is to have clothes for her in a myriad of colours-white,yellow,blue,green and especially red-which I manage to get a few days ago.Yay!

My spree...

I didn't forget to get something for my boy of course : ) Since his fave jeans is getting a tad too short for him,he got this....His first Levi's.

My online shopping has made a comeback. It's far from over,I tell ya.(I have yet to get something for darling hubby). And now, with my handsfree sling,I could go shopping in the mall too!In any case, please don't make me feel guilty about my shopping in these 'bad times'.....I need to help the economy by spending, right? ; P
